Abstract
Introduction: Infugem is a highly promising cure for a variety of cancerous tumors, such as carcinoma, urinary, pulmonary, breast, and throat The drug has many side effects on various organs in the body. When taken by pregnant women, the mother is at risk of side effects, as well as the risk of it passing to the fetus through the placenta. Aim of the study: The objective of this investigation was to determine how two doses of 60 and 120 mg/kg of the infugem drug would affect a few chosen maternal organs ( liver, kidney, and spleen), certain serum biochemical markers, and hematology on the days 9th, 13th, and 16th of gestation. Materials and Methods: 30 pregnant mice were used. The animals were separated into three sets. The first one was the control set which gave normal saline. Sets 1 and 2 were injected with the drug(60 and 120 mg/kg of b.w., respectively) intraperitonally (IP). The histopathological changes of the maternal liver, kidney, and spleen, blood biochemistry, and hematology were conducted. Prism software was used in the statistical assessment. Results: The results showed numerous histopathological changes at both doses like degeneration, necrosis in the liver, glumertities in the kidney, and hemosiderin deposition in the spleen the severity of the lesions was dose depended on the manner. The maternal hematological (RBCs, WBC, Hb, PLT, HCT) and biochemical (AST, ALT, ALP, BUN, Uric acid, Total protein, Total bilirubin, Glucose) parameters showed significant changes at both selected doses. Conclusions: The drug had a harmful effect on the histology and functions of the liver, kidneys, and spleen. The drug causes significant changes in the maternal blood components.
